Lawrence A. Bauer, age 97 of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Dove Healthcare -West, Eau Claire. He was born on December 7, 1920 in the Town of Lima, Wisconsin in Pepin County, the son of Frank I. and Pauline Bauer. Lawrence married Burnedette Teela on November 27, 1946 and they were able to share 54 years together before her death on March 15, 2001. He was a farmer prior to working maintenance/custodial for the Eau Claire Board of Education from 1967-1988. Lawrence had an amazing memory that lasted until his final days on earth. He was a great story teller and loved to read. Lawrence was a family man and freely passed down his strong morals and ethics to not only his children but those that respected him as a mentor. He was devoted to his family and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Lawrence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Lawrence is survived by his children, Lyle (significant other, Sandy) of Eau Claire, Dan of Woodbury, MN, Carolyn (Marshall) Flanders of Eau Claire, Greg (Linda) of Eau Claire, Lynette (Randy) Ballard of CA and Scott of MO; grandchildren, Tim (Isabelle), Nick (Barb), Bryana (Justin) Gephart, Jordan (Brian Schroeder), Kyle (Mary) Flanders, Jamie (Randy) Antonow, Danielle (Nate) Desrosiers, Alex Ballard (significant other, Cassie) and Lakyn; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Brayden, Addison, Olivia, Cecilia, Elizabeth, Lexi and Brody; siblings, Lorena Becker, Eugene (Lorraine), Arvilla (Fred) Caturia and Merlin (Dorie); sister's-in-law, Henrietta and Carol; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins, extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Burnedette; daughter, Carole; daughter-in-law, Faith; great-grandchildren, Weston and Cashton; siblings, LaVerne (Gertrude), Hubert (Orvilla), Elenore (Loren) Wright, Lydia (Ray) McManimon, Melvin, Arlene (Jack) Weber and infant brother, Frank and brother-in-law, Ray Becker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mondovi at 10:00 am with Father Paul Bosco presiding with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will immediately follow at the parish cemetery. Talbot Family Funeral Homes, Mondovi Chapel is assisting the family.
