Laurette (Lolle) Florin, 92, of Cochrane passed away on Monday July 3rd at Gunderson Medical Center in La Crosse. Lolle was born on September 19, 1924 in Stephenville, Texas to Ferne (LeGendre) and Laurance Keyser. She graduated from Stephenville High School in 1941 with honors and was inducted into the scholastic “Whos Who in Texas”. After attending Tarleton State University for two years she moved Victoria Texas to work at Aloe Army Aircore Field. It was there that she met her husband Vernon (Hank) Florin. They were married on July 16, 1944. After the end of WWII, they moved to Cochrane Wisconsin, where they lived throughout their lives.
Lolle was an active member of her community and believed strongly in civic duty. Along with her husband she participated in many activities for the Lions club, Legion and V.F.W. In 2014, she was honored by the village of Cochrane with a certificate of appreciation for her 60 years as a poll worker.
Lolle loves anything associated with art. She was a member of a ceramics group, and hosted a painting class at her home for many years.
Lolle also bowled and for a long time was a member of the Penny Pinchers team in the Cochrane Women’s Bowling League.
Lolle loved to socialize and in her 72 years of living in Cochrane she greatly enjoyed meeting and talking with all her friends and neighbors.
Lolle is survived by her son David (Sue) Florin, daughter Lauralyn Florin, grandchildren Adam (Andrea) Florin and Kathy Florin, and great granddaughter Freyja Wolfe.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, parents Ferne and Laurance Keyser and sister Beverly Keyser Neblett.
A memorial service to celebrate Lolle’s life will be held at 11 am on Saturday July 22 at Hope United Church in Cochrane. After cremation, Lolle’s ashes will be returned to her beloved Texas.
