Larry M. Rieck
ALMA, Wis. — Larry M. Rieck, 61, of Alma, passed unexpectedly at his home after an unsuccessful battle with brain cancer.
He was born June 22, 1950, in Wabasha, a son of the late Alex and Elsie (Halling) Rieck.
Larry attended Alma High School. Following high school, Larry held several jobs, most notably Edward Kraemer and Sons Construction out of Plain, Wis., a job he held right up until the cancer became too much to bear.
Larry was a life member of the Alma Rod & Gun Club. He had a love of the outdoors and hunting, especially hunting deer. His family will remember Larry for his knowledge and ability to navigate throughout the woods and his caring personality, giving heart, and for his love of his nieces and nephews.
Larry will be sadly and deeply missed by his one sister, Darlene (Chuck) Roebke of Duluth; brothers, David (Bonnie) Rieck of Buffalo City, Daniel (Ann) Rieck of Wheeler, Wis., Rhode Rieck of Alma and Glenn (Amelia “Pic”) Rieck of Alma; also by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Preceding Larry in death were his parents.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel, with Rev. Joel Bacon, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Alma, officiating. Inurnment will follow at Nelson Cemetery. A memorial gathering will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service.
