Kathleen M. Zastrow, age 56, of Winona, MN formerly of Alma,WI passed away on December 12, 2012 at Lake Winona Manor.
Kathy was born on July 28, 1956 in Wabasha, a daughter of Melvin and Luella (Glander) Kuehn.
She attended Alma Schools, graduating from Alma High School with the class of 1974.
On June 21, 1975 Kathy was united in marriage to Warren Zastow at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. Together they had three children. They later divorced.
She was employed at Cytec Fiberite in Winona. After Kathy left Fibrite, she started a career as a County and State Foster Care parent, until 1993 her health issues forced her into early retirement.
Kathy enjoyed reading cook books, gardening, making crafts and doing crossword puzzles. Kathy will be remembered for her humane heart and love of animals of all kinds, especially horses. She at one time raised and cared for 20 horses.
Kathy adored and loved her grandchildren.
Kathy is survived by her two daughters, Michelle (Steven) Carothers of Durand and Melissa (Benjamin) Folczyk of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Brody and Joslin and Brock, Brady and Beau; five siblings, Beverly (Dennis) Daniel of Oklahoma City, Sandra (Daune) Loesel of Alma, Nancy (Don “Skip”) Todd of Trempealeau, Clarwin (Jean) Kuehn of Winona and Larry (Helga) Kuehn of Winona; also by many nieces nephews other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, her daughter Melanie preceded her in death.
A memorial celebration will be held on Sunday, December 16th at 4:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel with Pastor Michael Vetsch officiating. It was Kathy’s wish to be cremated. A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service.
