Kathleen A. Speltz

Kathleen Alice (Morgan) Speltz, 76, passed away very peacefully at Ron & Diane’s home, with her loving family by her side, the night of Saturday, March 20, 2021. Kathy was born on May 22, 1944 to Francis and Alice (Walsh) Morgan, in Mount Hope, WI. She graduated from Plainfield Iowa High School. Kathy married Sam Speltz on June 13th, 1964 in Winona, MN. From this union came Kathy’s proudest accomplishments, her children, Ron, Roger, Bruce and Diane. Kathy and Sam operated Kochenderfer Oil Co. in Cochrane for 19 years. She then went to work at Benchmark, where she retired in 2012. Kathy was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma, WI. Faith, family and friends were what mattered most to Kathy. Led by her faith in God, she showed everyone she met, and most importantly her family, the importance of hard work, honesty and kindness. Kathy had a love of flowers of all kinds, this was very evident by her beautiful flower gardens, which many drove by and adored every year. Tending to her gardens brought her much joy and peace. She also had a love for baking and her Frosted Oatmeal Cookies will always be a forever family favorite. Kathy always found joy in the simple things in life, over material things in life. She valued time spent visiting, or chatting on the telephone, with family and friends. Kathy is lovingly survived by her husband of 56 years, Sam. Sons Ron (Diane Foegen) of Cochrane, Bruce (Lynette Pehler) of Independence, daughter Diane (Donnie Bjorge) of Fountain City, grandchildren Jenna (Tyler Blaskowski), Mitchell, Jordan and Morgan Speltz; Sara, Jacob and Matthew Bjorge and special grand pups Maddie, Amber and Oakley. She is further survived by her siblings Julie Straka, Joe (Kae) Morgan and Phyllis Roberts; many other relatives and dear friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her son Roger, her parents Francis and Alice Morgan and her sister Janet Thorn. Father and Mother-In-Laws, Arnold and Lillian Speltz. Brother-In-Laws, Charlie Straka and Merlin (Butch) Roberts. Pallbearers will be her beloved grandchildren; Jenna & Tyler Blaskowski, Mitchell, Jordan and Morgan Speltz; Sara, Jacob and Matthew Bjorge. Per Kathy’s request, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to one of the following: Tri-Community Fire Department, Winona Community Warming Center (Catholic Charities), SVEMS or St. Jude’s Hospital. Visitation will be on Friday, March 26th, 2021 at Talbot Family Funeral Home in Alma, WI at 4:00PM to 6:00 PM. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona, MN; next to her son, Roger.
