June Grotjahn

June Grotjahn, born January 22, 1932, entered her heavenly home on April 7, 2019 surrounded by family. June married Ivan, her best friend on October 22, 1955 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wabasha MN, where she was baptized and confirmed. They moved to Milwaukee, WI where they began & raised their family. June was employed at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Wabasha, MN and then for (32) years at FW Woolworth, where she retired. She also had other seasonal employment which allowed her and Ivan to travel. June was a faithful member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Milwaukee for over 25 years and later Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa for her remaining years. June enjoyed family vacations, national parks, monuments and especially their motor home travels to Texas. She loved music and was especially fond of country music and winter music jams. Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, June is survived by her husband, Ivan, of 63 years of marriage, Children: Deborah (Paul McDowell), Gregory, Jeffrey, Myra (Charles Kingstad), and Rodney, Grandchildren: Paul, Melissa (Troy Barth), Danielle, Gage, Michael, Patrick, & Chrystal, (2) great grandchildren: Natalie & Annie, half-sisters: Elaine McHone and Briz Rieck, and half-brothers: Robert and Roger Rieck. She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Beaulah Rieck, and Elfa Rieck, brothers: William & Harvey, sister, Wilma Mahlum & half sister Lois Kruger& daughter-in-law Lori. Funeral services will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes, Alma Chapel on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 1 pm with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Nelson Cemetery. June’s family would like to thank the Compassionate Care Hospice team (especially Leah & Ally) for all their caring support and kindness, as well as the pastoral staff and families of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for their support and prayers.
