John W. "Butch" Laehn, age 70, of Eau Claire, formerly of Gilmanton, passed from away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015 from a short, courageous battle of lung cancer.
Butch was the second child of Rosvil and Rosella (Hohmann) Laehn. He attended Mondovi catholic schools until his mother passed away when he was 12 years old. Butch continued his schooling in Gilmanton.
In August 1964, Butch married Linda Davis. They fathered two children, Denice and Jeremy. Butch and his family ran a dairy farm for 14 years and he did custom combining. After that, Butch and Linda owned and operated Butch’s Bar in Gilmanton for 18 years. Their next adventure was moving to Eau Claire. Butch worked for Fern Construction; building huge beautiful homes for the next 18 years. Butch officially retired this past June at age 70.
Butch leaves behind his immediate family, wife, Linda Laehn of 51 years; daughter, Denice (Lynda Meyer) Laehn of Neenah and son, Jeremy (Laura) Laehn of Eau Claire. Also, his siblings, Vira (Bob) Plumley from Knapp, Landa "Cooky" (Jim) Dekan from Mondovi, Jeff (Judy) Laehn from Gilmanton and Susan (John) Schultz from Mondovi.
Preceding Butch in death are his mother, Rosella Laehn; father, Rosvil Laehn; step mother, Florence Buchholz Laehn; brother, William "Bill" Laehn and nephew, Garett Kipp.
Butch’s celebration of life will be help at Talbot Family Funeral Home - Mondovi Chapel on Monday, Nov 23, 2015 at 4:00 pm with Chaplain Gary Preston officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00.
