Joan M. Averbeck, age 87, of the Town of Belvidere, Buffalo County, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
She was born on August 15, 1937.
After high school, Joan earned a degree in nursing and was proud to have been a Registered Nurse. Following her marriage to Robert Averbeck, she soon became a loving and supportive homemaker and mother that took great pride in raising her children and working side by side with her husband on their farm.
Joan will be remembered for her knitting and sewing abilities and then in her later years, she was known for her love of photography. She also loved to cook and bake, especially for the holidays. Her children will forever remember her advice when baking… “Don’t forget the sugar!”
Joan will be sadly missed by her children, John (Lisa), Nora (Bruce) Anderson and Thomas (Alice); grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Deneff, Joseph (Sarah), Robert, Ryan, Reese and Alexia; great grandchildren, Seth, Christian, Jasper, Aurora, Gabriella, Oliver, Lilly and one on the way; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband, Bob, Joan was preceded in death by her grandson, Mitchell; sister, Rosemarie and brother, Bert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma. Burial will follow at Alma Public Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 28 from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
