Jessie Orvilla Franzwa

Jessie Orvilla Franzwa of River Falls, WI, formerly of Mondovi, WI died August 6, 2014 at Kinnic Long Term Care Facility in River Falls. She was born July 1, 1913 in Canton Township, Buffalo County, WI; daughter of Martin and Emma (Christenson) Johnson. She attended a small country school in North Branch. On November 17, 1934 Jessie married Durwood Franzwa at the Lyster Lutheran Church, rural Nelson. They farmed in the Modena area for 30 years and were members of Modena Lutheran Church. In 1970 they moved to Mondovi and were members of Central Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies’ organizations. Jessie enjoyed gardening, traveling in their motor home and being with family and friends. Jessie is survived by two daughters, Muriel (Glenn) Ostberg of New Braunfels, Texas and Sharon (Jan) Gunderson of River Falls, WI; eight grandchildren, Sally (Mike) Foiles of Cadott, Lynda (Mike) Gehring and Sara Ostberg of Colorado Springs, Co., Glenn Ostberg Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, David (Kathy) Gunderson of Eagan, MN., Tom (Liz) Gunderson of River Falls, WI, and Mike (Kim) Gunderson of Roberts, WI; great -grandchildren Eric (Erin), Nick (Anna), Jordan (Hunter) Foiles; and James & Jacob, Megan & Molly, Anna & Ryan Gunderson, and Cash Ostberg. Great-great grandchildren Ethan & Evan, Emma, Aubrie & Braxtan Foiles. Sisters-in-law Irene Johnson of Eau Claire, WI. and Inez Franzwa of Mondovi and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Durwood Franzwa, great grandson Rick Dingmann, three sisters Alice (Riley) Smith, Anga (Adolph) Ness, Evelyn (Victor) Lindstrom, and three brothers Silas (Eunice) Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Wallace (Evelyn) Johnson; brothers-in-law Lyman (Ida) Franzwa, Finley Franzwa, Harold (Florence) Franzwa. A funeral service will be at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi on Monday August 11 at 1:00PM with visitation at 11:00 until the time of service. Pastor Rolf Morck will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Mondovi. Talbot Family Funeral Homes, Mondovi is assisted the family with arrangements.
