Jerry Johnston

Jerry L. Johnston, age 76, of Mondovi, passed away on Wednesday, October 4 2023 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

He was born on March 14, 1947 in Mondovi, the son of the late Ray and Harriet (Hurtley) Johnston.

Jerry attended and graduated from Mondovi High School with the class of 1965. 

On January 24, 1970, Jerry was united in marriage to Linda Marsolek at Our Savior’s United Methodist Church in Mondovi.  To this loving union, three children were born.  Linda preceded Jerry in death on January 22, 2010.

Jerry was an over the road truck driver for multiple companies in the area for many years.  Following his many years behind the wheel, Jerry was a dispatcher until his retirement. 

He was a member of the Midnight Riders Saddle Club of Mondovi and enjoyed playing cards at Bauer’s Auto Service, meeting friends at Joe’s shop kwik, watching horse and tractor pulls or spending time with his friends in the morning at the “White Pig Coffee Club”.   Many will remember Jerry from his days of cooking at the Linse Ballfield during softball games. 

Jerry loved to take drives throughout Buffalo County just to take in all the areas beauty.

Jerry was a kind and caring man with the ability to make friends where ever he would go. He will be remembered not only as a wonderful friend to many but mostly as a wonderful and loving dad, grandpa and brother.

three children, Corey (Julie) Johnston, Kelly (Wendy) Johnston and Carey Jo (Danny) Nelson, all of Mondovi; ten grandchildren, Alexandria, Joseph, Aaron, Camaron, Richard, Santana,Cole, Skylar, Adalynn and Lydia; great granddaughter, Autumn; siblings, Ray (Laurie) Johnston of Mondovi and Jacqueline Johnston-Spoo of Eau Claire; four brothers in law, James (Jodi) Marsolek, Daniel (Trina) Marsolek, and Thomas (Denise) Marsolek, all of Mondovi;   sisters in law, Linda Johnston of Mondovi and Karen (Rob) Rongholt of Mondovi;also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and so many dear close friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Linda; brothers Larry and Howie; brother in law, Gary Marsolek.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at The Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi chapel with Chaplain Gary Preston officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service all at the funeral home.
