He attended the University of Wisconsin River Falls and completed a major in Agricultural Education and a minor in Agricultural Economics. He graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1977. He worked as an Agricultural Education Instructor at the Atwater, Minnesota High School. As a FFA Advisor, his FFA Dairy Judging Team went to State, the first time in the history of the Atwater High School FFA! He was very proud of that accomplishment. He was very well liked by students, parents and the school faculty and staff.
He returned to the family farm in Alma, WI. He married Jacquelyn Schnabl on December 2, 1978 in Black Creek, WI.
In the early 1990’s, he got a job working as a glass plant furnace operator for Cardinal Glass in Menomonie, WI. After about four years, he then moved on to his favorite job – working as an avionics Technician/aircraft mechanic for Northwest Airlines, Inc., in St. Paul, MN. He loved working in the composite shop and fixing 747 and 757 aircrafts. During his time working as an aircraft mechanic, he took frequent trips with family and friends to the EAA Convention in Oshkosh, WI. His next job was working at the Foremost Foods Dairy Plant in Waumandee, WI as an electrical maintenance technician. He then worked at a plastics company in Red Wing, MN. He was most recently employed at the Peerless Chain Company in Winona, MN. He found that job to be very interesting!
Jeff was a volunteer of various activities, and a member of some organizations. He was a member of the Atwater, MN Lions Club and a University of Wisconsin-River Falls Alumni Member of the Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity, Epsilon Chapter. The evening prior to his death, he and his wife, Jacquelyn, attended the DTS Fraternity Spring Formal. He had a very ENJOYABLE evening. As a 1977 graduate, he was sharing his memories, from 40 years ago, with former college friends and present day Fraternity members. He gave quite an informative speech!
Jeff truly loved his children and enjoyed being involved in some of their activities. Most notably was his involvement in his children’s swim meets in Winona, MN. He set up electronic timing equipment, etc, for competitive YMCA Winona Winfins Swim Meets and Winona USA Water Wizards Swim Meets.
In recent years, he has been a member of the Buffalo County Democratic Party and has also participated and accompanied his wife doing archaeological field surveys for MVAC (Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center) at UW-LaCrosse.
He was a hard worker who enjoyed the company of students, family, friends and co-workers. He was always ready to “Lend a Hand” whenever someone needed help with building projects, or help with disabled vehicles, etc.
He is truly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family members, friends and co-workers. He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; a daughter, Rachel; a son, Joshua; a son-in-law, John; and two grandsons, Arthur and Roman.
