Jeanette Marie Hess

Jeanette Marie (Sparks) Hess, 69, loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away on September 20, 2021 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center after a long battle with dementia. Jeanette was born May 15, 1952, in Winona, MN to Harvey and Harriet (Brown) Sparks. She graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1970. After graduating, Jeanette held a variety of jobs including daycare provider to have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom and spend as much time as possible with her two daughters. Jeanette went on to meet her future husband, Dan Hess on a night out with a friend. Dan and Jeanette married September 15, 1973 and had two amazing daughters, Janna (Nick) Busch of Cornell, WI and Leah (Charlie) Merchlewitz of Rushford, MN. She was blessed with four grandsons, Damien and Gabriel Busch and Carter and Gradien Merchlewitz. Jeanette is survived by her husband Dan, two daughters, and four grandsons. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Johnson of Rushford, MN; nephew, Erick (Jen) Johnson of MN City, MN; great nephew, Abram Johnson; brothers-in-law, Larry Johnson of Rushford, MN and Greg Hess of Alma, WI. She is further survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Harriet Sparks and her father and mother-in law, Rudy and Loretta Hess. Jeanette would always do anything to help anyone whenever she could. She loved a good game of Canasta with the Evers and marbles with the grandkids. In her spare time she would put puzzles together, sew, cook, clean and have a drink with whoever visited. Jeanette loved to host holidays and have campfires. Jeanette was always ready with a witty comeback and loved to give and receive sarcasm. A visitation will be held on Saturday September 25, 2021 at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel, from 10:00 AM until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 PM.
