Jean Marie Forsyth, age 82 of Mondovi, WI passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi. She was born on November 22, 1931 in Hibbing, MN to Jack and Helen (Gyurak) Borden. Jean lived most of her life in Milwaukee where she attended Division High School. She worked for 32 years at various jobs in sales and for a number of years as a long distance operator and answering service. On August 26, 1950, Jean was united in marriage to Richard A. Forsyth, Sr. in Waukegan, IL. To this union, eight children were born. They divorced in 1991. After their divorce, Jean moved to Rock Falls, WI where she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She did various volunteer work in Milwaukee and at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rock Falls as a CCD teacher and other volunteer work until she became disabled. Jean, known as “Jeanie” to her friends, will be remembered as a voracious reader and loved music, movies, dancing, singing and NASCAR. She will be remembered by her family as a compassionate, caring and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Each and every one of her family brought great joy to her life. Jean will be sadly missed by her two sons, Gregory Peter (Linda) and Richard Arthur, Jr. (Janet) both of Mondovi; four daughters, Cynthia Jean (Bob) Schmitz of Post Falls, ID, Tammy Marie Forsyth of Tomahawk, WI, Jennifer Lind (Ron) Minue of Sussex, Wis and Madeleine Helen Forsyth of Tomahawk, WI; 26 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one sister, Irene (Lou) Lo Galbo of Streamwood, Ill; one brother, Anthony (Kathleen) Borden of Longmont, CO; one daughter in law, Laura Forsyth; also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, two sons, Anthony Forsyth in 2002 and Christopher in infancy in 1967 along with a brother, Richard and sister, Frances Gillette preceded Jean in death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 17 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Falls. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Mondovi. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel and again on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of the mass at the church.
