Janet Irene Parkhurst

Janet Irene Parkhurst passed away peacefully Friday, March 30 surrounded by family after suffering a stroke which brought her to the hospital on Friday, March 16. She received the highest level of care from the doctors and staff at Mayo Health Systems, The American Lutheran Home, and Mayo’s hospice nurses. For this care, Janet’s family is truly grateful. Janet was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on July 25, 1937, a daughter of the late Howard L. and Laura (Kruger) Ganong. She attended and graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1955 and married LaMoine Parkhurst on September 28, 1957. Together, they had two children, Mark and Laurie. They spent nearly thirty years in Des Moines, Iowa but their hearts remained true to Wisconsin and they retired in the Mondovi area in 1999. Janet was very active in her retirement serving as a mentor at the Mondovi elementary school, serving on the Friends of the Library board and as a charter member of Faith Lutheran Mission Church in Eau Claire. She was also an avid baker showing her love to friends and family by feeding them sweets. She befriended everyone she met, never knew a stranger and never forgot a name. Left to cherish the memories of her life are her family; husband, LaMoine Parkhurst, son, Mark (Bernie) Parkhurst and daughter, Laurie (Karl) Heth. She also leaves behind a sister, Mavis Halverson and two brothers, Howard (Nancy) Ganong and Ron (Kay) Ganong. Her brother and sisters in law include Donna Parkhurst, Don and Jean Parkhurst, Maurice and Donna Eide and Roger and Shari Parkhurst. Many cousins, nieces and nephews will remember her as well. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Laura Ganong, her father and mother in law, Loren and Myrtle Parkhurst, her brother in law, Milford Parkhurst, sister in law, Sandi Ganong, brother in law Everett Halverson and her precious grandson, Robert Parkhurst with whom she is sharing a glorious reunion. funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave., Eau Claire with Pastor Nick Henseler officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery in Mondovi. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 3 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Poeschel-Talbot Funeral Home, Mondovi and again on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
