Janet Lois Dregney, age 73, of Mondovi passed away on Saturday January 28 at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi with her loving family at her side following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on August 21, 1938 in Mondovi a daughter of the late Darrell and Connie (Anderson) Steen. She was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Hans and Julia “June” Steen.
On May 3, 1958 Janet was united in marriage to Wayne Mock at Our Saviors United Methodist Church in Mondovi. To this union, three children were born. Wayne preceded Janet in death on March 7, 1982.
For a number of years, Janet was employed at the former Arcadia Fryers, now Gold n Plump. After her employment at Arcadia Fryers, she purchased the business and became the operator of the Panther Café in Gilmanton.
Janet will be remembered for her deep love of reading, especially books on history. If she was not reading she would be playing her hand held poker machines. Her reading gave her a extensive knowledge on many topics and would watch the game show “jeopardy” and be quite good at it.
Nothing could be more important than her deep love and devotion she had for her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will sadly missed by her children, Cheryl (Wayne) Peterson of Lookout, WI, Margie (Mark) Matchey of Independence and Wayne Mock of Mondovi; four step children, June Kendall of Bemidji, MN, Ron Anderson of Minneapolis, Sara Peterson of Mahnomen, MN and Gary Bishop of Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Carrie (Mike) Conrad, Rachel (Travis) Lessman, Dakota Peterson, Mandi (Chad) Schneider, Michael Peterson, Bryan Peterson, Lance Mock; numerous step grandchildren and many precious great grandchildren; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially her dear and loving friends, Linda Koeing and Debra Shaw..
Besides her parents and husband Wayne, her brother, James Steen and a grandson, Dusty Helgeson along with aunts and uncles preceded Janet in death.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Janet will be held on Wednesday February 1 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors United Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Engen officiating. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service all at the church
Scenic Rivers Cremation Center/Poeschel Talbot Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
