Jane Ellen Walczak (nee Schafer), age 65, of Buffalo City, WI passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Jane was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated from O’Gorman High School, received a BS degree in English Literature from Northern State College, and a Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Iowa. Jane’s lifelong love of books and libraries led her to find a nitch as a medical librarian. Jane worked at St. Vincent Health Care in Billings, MT and then as a member of the Medical College of Wisconsin worked at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, in Wauwatosa, WI. She also worked as the Clerk Treasurer of Buffalo City, WI and as Copyright Compliance Coordinator at the St. Mary’s Press, in Winona, MN. She met and married Pete Walczak, and lived in the Town of Waukesha, WI with their 3 labs. They moved to Buffalo City and have another lab, Boone. Jane loved books, puzzles, camping, fishing and boating on the BIG River, the small town hospitality, the beautiful bluffs surrounding them, and the Packers. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Sandy Achenbach. Jane will be sadly missed by Pete, her brother Larry, his family, other relatives, many great friends, and their beloved lab, Boone. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Tri-Community Fire Department and Scenic Valley EMS are preferred.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 5:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel with Deacon Ed Wendt officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 PM until the hour of the service.
