James A. Risen

James A. Risen, 64, of Mondovi, WI, died on March 14, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire. Jim was born on August 8, 1948, to Arnold and Carol (Thompson) Risen. He grew up on the farm in Naples Township and has always resided in the Mondovi area. Jim married Betty Poeschel on December 2, 1967 . They had two children Daniel and Jodi Risen. Betty passed on April 25, 1982. Jim carried on his father’s passion of horses with pony pulls and draft horse pulls. He was a member of the Wisconsin Barefoot Horsepuller’s Association and the Wisconsin Horsepuller’s Association. Jim was involved with his children in the Midnight Rider’s Saddle Club and rodeos. He enjoyed horseback riding with his daughter Jodi and he was Danny’s biggest fan and crew member when it came to tractor pulling. Jim’s joys in life were his children and grandchildren: Daniel (Carmen) Risen, their children Bethany and Samantha Risen and Dalton White, Jodi(Ron) Swensen, their children Steven and Cassandra Swenson, and extended daughter Wendy (Halverson) Johnston, and her children Alex and Joe Beers, and his dog Tucker P. Jim will be remembered by his family as putting the family’s needs first and always lending a helpful hand whenever called. He enjoyed sharing stories of his many memories and fun times with friends and family. There will be a celebration of Jim’s life at the SunRise Inn, 860 E. Main St, Mondovi on Sunday March 17 from 3-6 pm with a brief service at 5:00pm. Talbot Family Funeral Homes/Scenic Rivers Cremation Center assisted the family with arrangements.
