James Lauren “Jim” Klopp, age 62 of Gilmanton, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2016, after a battle with numerous health issues, at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi.
He was born on November 18, 1953 the fourth child of seven born to Norman and Patricia (O’Brian) Klopp.
Raised on his great grandfather’s farm in the Town of Dover, Buffalo County, Jim attended schools in Dover and Gilmanton, was baptized at Evanger Lutheran Church and confirmed to the Lutheran faith at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
In Jim’s early years, he would help on the family farm with numerous chores and field work. When his father Norman passed away, he worked several years for Donald Pfund helping plant and spray crops along with drying corn. In 1998, he purchased property and a mobile home in Gilmanton where he lived until his health weakened.
Jim was always willing to lend a helping hand to whom ever needed it. He had a knack for fixing small engines. It wasn’t out of the ordinary to find a lawn mower sitting in his front yard. He loved fishing, and even during his health issues, Jim still had his 2016 fishing license.
His absence in this life will be felt by many who were blessed to know him.
Jim will be dearly missed by his son, Chad Lind of Madison; daughter, Patricia “Patty Dawn” Klopp of Mondovi; also by his mother, Patricia Dawn Klopp Steiner of Gilmanton; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Klopp (friend Sybil) of Gilmanton, Stephen (Karla) Klopp of Buffalo City, Virginia (David) Cope of Rogers, Arkansas, Margaret Sessions of Mondovi, Bonnie Bloom (Gary Marten) of Gilmanton and Henry (Tosha) Klopp of Gilmanton; three step sisters,
Mary Jane (Bill) Lisowski of Arcadia, Rita (Rich) Hayter of Independence, and Julie (Jeff) Kacures of Mondovi; one step brother, John (Ann) Steiner of Gilmanton; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
