He was a big brother to:

Also survived by dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, life long childhood friends, and his good friends in Alma, where everyone has a "Jim" story. He touched many people's lives in the town he loved.
At the age of 17, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Seaman (SN). While serving aboard the USS Gray, he was granted multiple letters of accommodation and awards for outstanding service aboard the ship. After he left the Navy, Jim turned his love of the outdoors into a career where he became a very skilled arborist.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman who was just as comfortable in the woods or on the water as he was sitting in his favorite recliner. Fishing with his brothers, hunting with his friends, sitting by the campfire, stargazing, and telling jokes were some of Jim's favorite things to do.
He also had an artistic eye for beautiful and unique pieces of Driftwood which he would find with his beloved dog companions Anew and Moose. His yard was decorated with these remarkable pieces. Jim had a spiritual connection to all things in nature, especially with bald eagles.
We lost a special one with Jim. Anyone that truly knew him, knew he had a big heart. He always was willing to lend a helping hand, even putting his own problems on hold to help out a friend or family member. His warm demeanor was infectious, and his laugh, a comfort to the ear. We will always miss him more than words can say, but take comfort knowing that Jim is now at peace and surrounded by light.
[The spirit of the woods is like an old good friend, makes me feel warm and good inside.
I knew his name and it was good to see him again, cause in the wind he's still alive.
And I'll join you in the big hunt before too long]
-Ted Nugent
