Ione D. “Sis” Kleven, age 89, of Drammen Township, Eau Claire County, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Grandview Care Center in Blair, WI.
She was born on January 18, 1923 the daughter of the late David and Ida (Thompson) Stringer.
Sis attended and graduated from Mondovi High School.
On March 6, 1943 Ione “Sis” Stringer was united in marriage to R. Owen Kleven in Eau Claire. To this union three children were born. Owen preceded Sis in death on April 16, 1996.
Two years after becoming husband and wife, Sis and her husband purchased a farm in Drammen Township, where, for many years, they stood together side by side farming and providing for their family. Sis was so proud knowing that the farm she and her husband purchased over 65 years ago has now entered its second generation as a Kleven farm homestead. Sis will be remembered for her enjoyment for quilting and creating quilts for her family that will be cherished for many years to come.
Sis will be deeply and dearly missed by her children, Linda Kleven of Eau Claire and Darrell (Jane) Kleven of Eleva; special grandchildren Eric (Sarah) Kleven of Eau Claire and Erin (Josh) Lind of Eau Claire; four precious great grandchildren, Madeline, Constance and Ashleigh Kleven and Samuel Lind; one sister in law, Loretta Brown of Eau Claire; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband Owen, her infant son David, one sister, Frances “Tippy” Nimmo preceded Sis in death.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6 at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Ev. Covenant Church with Pastor Clifford Biel officiating. Burial will follow at Drammen Lutheran Cemetery.
