Herbert M. Meyer

Herbert M. Meyer, age 80 of Mondovi, WI passed away April 12, 2014 at Mayo Health in Eau Claire, WI. He was born on March 20, 1934 to Herman and Myrtle (Paulson) Meyer near Mondovi, WI. Herb attended school at Church Valley. Herb married Joan Synstad on June 21, 1958 at Lyster Lutheran Church where he was a member. They were blessed with five children: Bill, Wanda, Todd, Laura and Steven. Herb served his country as a member of the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He became a member of the Nelson VFW. Herb was a skilled heavy equipment operator and mechanic. Herb had a passion and a gift for repairing old cars, tractors, and small engines. He loved to watch sports! Herb’s greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Meyer of Mondovi, his children, Bill (Sharon) Meyer of Argonne, WI, Wanda (Marty) Rimestad of Amery, WI, Todd (Jami) Meyer of Mondovi, Laura (Al) Horn of Eau Claire, WI and Steven Meyer of Richland Center, WI; grandchildren, Mark (Lindsay) Meyer, Karsten, Landen and Braeden Rimestad, Karissa, McKenzie and Trestan Meyer, and Madeleine, Logan, Grace and Nadia Horn; great-grandchildren Luke and John Meyer; sisters Mary Lou Ennes and Clarice Larson; mother-in-law Wilma Synstad; special nieces Patti Mueller and Bonnie Hutter; special in-laws Carrol and Sonya Iberg, Karen Schroeder, and Yvonne Thorson, and many other nephews, nieces, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Myrtle Meyer, brother Merle Thorson and father-in-law Roy Synstad. Funeral services will be held at Lyster Lutheran Church in Nelson, WI on Tuesday, April 15 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Michael Vetsch. A visitation will be at Talbot Funeral Home in Mondovi, WI on Monday, April 14 at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
