Henry J. “Hank” Schultz, age 93, of Alma, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Wabasha.
Hank was born November 19, 1923 on a farm in the Town of Lincoln, Buffalo County where he spent nearly every day of his life. He still slept in the same bedroom where he was born. He was the seventh of eight sons born to the late Henry, Sr. and Frances (Fink) Schultz. Hank was a 1942 graduate of Alma High School.
On June 7, 1950, Hank was united in marriage to the love of his life, Gloria Balk at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee. In that same year, they purchased the Schultz home farm. In their 66 years of marriage, they were blessed with 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Hank, when he was a young farmer, served on the Agricultural Adjustment Administration which today is the Farm Service Agency. This entity would encourage farmers to participate in the corn and hog programs along with conservation programs. Hank served the Town of Lincoln for 58 years. He also served the communities of Buffalo County as Board Supervisor for 8 years and was elected to the highway and University Extension Ag. Committee. Hank served as a delegate on AMPI Board for many years and was a volunteer fireman on the Waumandee-Montana-Lincoln Fire Department for 15 years. He further served on the Garden Valley Co-op Board. Hank and Gloria received the conservation award for
ove and commitment to his family, faith, friendships and farming.
Hank is survived by his wife of the past 66 years, Gloria; children, Charles (Kathy), Patricia (Tom) Jansma and Ann (Bruce) Auseth all of Alma; grandchildren, Jason (Nicole) Schultz, Trina (Chris) Blaschko, Taylor Auseth and Hayley Auseth; 2 great-grandchildren, Max and Layla Blaschko; also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and wonderful friends.
Besides his parents, Hank was preceded in death by his brothers, Milton, Hilbert, Clifford, Milan, Gaylord, Christian and Ruslyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Fr. Sebastian Kolodziejczyk as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel and again at the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the hour of the Mass.
