Gladys Mae Herold, age 89, of Alma, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Gundersen-St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center of Wabasha.
She was born on May 11, 1934 in the Town of Waumandee, Buffalo County, WI the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Myrtle Hansen.
On June 8, 1954, Gladys was united in marriage to Alton Herold at St. John's Catholic Church in Winona. To this beloved union, 4; children were born. Alton preceded Gladys in death on January 6, 2024.
Gladys was a longtime and faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma, where she actively volunteered her time with the ladies study group now known as the PCCW.
Gladys will be remembered for wonderful gardens, picking hickory nuts, tending to her chickens and selling eggs and working side by side with her husband on their farm.
Gladys was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and found great pride in providing a loving home for her family.
Gladys is survived by her children, Daniel (Delores), Nancy (Michael) Seifert, Sandra Herold and Tracie Herold; grandsons, Tony (Nicole) Herold, Mark (Chelsey) Herold Joseph Seifert, and Caleb Herold, Jamey (Heather) Grotjahn, Lonnie (Katrina) Grotjahn; several great grandchildren; sisters in law, Bernice Zuehlke; and Donna Herold; also by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Beside her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Alton; four siblings her granddaughter, Shannon Seifert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma with Fr. Arul Doss as Celebrant. Burial will follow fellowship at Herold Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel and again at the church on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of the Mass.
