ReGina T. Rieck, age 82, of Wabasha, formerly of Alma, passed away on
Tuesday April 12, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha.
Gina was born on August 31, 1933 a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary
Joephine (Prissel) Brantner.
On October 14, 1981, Gina was united in marriage Dale Rieck at St. John
Lutheran Church in Alma. Together, they brought two families together and
raised them as one.
Gina spent her early days nurturing her children at home. Afterwards, Gina
was a longtime employee of Safeway Foods of Durand, a career that spanned
around 25 years.
She was a lady of many talents, of which were her beautiful floral and
vegetable gardens and abilities of canning her vegetables for her family.
Gina also enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Gina always put her family first. She will be remembered for making every
holiday about it’s true meaning…the bringing together of family. Easter
holiday was one of Gina’s most favorite of holiday’s which was evident by
her special Easter egg hunt around her home with each egg personalized for
all her family. Her Christmas Village was fascinating. She spent many hours
decorating it and then let the children play in it saying “This is who it’s for,
the kids.” Although we will mourn the loss of truly the best mom, grandma,
great grandma and now greatgreat
grandma one could ever ask for, we now
have the most special memories of this wonderful lady forever in our hearts.
Gina will be sadly missed by her husband of the past 34 years, Dale, of Alma;
her children, Marla Jo McMahon, Rick McMahon, Daniel McMahon, Bonnie
(Paul) Schultz, Sue (Tom) Henthorn and Marvin (his special love, Lana)
Rieck; 23 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 3 greatgreat
grandchildren; sisters, JoAnn Rieck and Rosetta (John) Nelson; brother,
Charles (Janet) Brantner; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and
numerous friends.
Besides Gina’s parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Rob Rieck and
two sisters, Magdalene Bauer and Lorraine Smith and two grandaughters,
Gina Kay Bechel and Cassie Elizabeth McMahon (Affolter)
