Gilda "Rusty" Rae Ferodowill

Gilda Rae “Rusty” (nee Grob) Ferodowill was born on October 02, 1939, to Raymond and Florence (nee Peterson) Grob, the elder of two daughters. She grew up in Mill Creek Valley near Alma, WI. In 1964, she married Jerome Ferodowill, and they lived in Mendota Heights, MN, for several years. They raised one son, Gary, born in 1967. After the passing of her husband and later their son, she returned to Mill Creek, and lived out her life on the estate where she grew up. She died peacefully at Gundersen St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Wabasha, MN, on July 8, 2024. She was 84.Rusty graduated with a specialty in grief counseling from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN. For several years she led grief counseling groups at her home in Mill Creek. Rusty was known for her love of her Rat Terrier dogs, her beautiful gardens, her knowledge of the surrounding farmlands and its animals, her skills as a hunter, her knack for playing cards, her years of fandom with the Minnesota Vikings, and her enjoyment of bowling. Rusty’s favorite month was October, and for several years she and friends set up spooky nights on her property on Halloween. Due to her involvement with her church, donations collected were given to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Alma, WI. Rusty is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Florence Grob, her younger sister, Seville, her husband, Jerry, her son, Gary, and a first cousin, Gaven Grob. She is survived by her first cousins Gary (Marilyn) Grob, Winona, MN, Ken Grob, Park Rapids, MN, and Barbara (nee Grob) Jones, Boulder, CO, and cousin in law, Lois Grob.  Also by special friends and neighbors, Bob and Tayna Jumbeck.   A memorial gathering will be at St John Lutheran Church in Alma, 709 South 2nd St., on Tuesday July 16 at 1:30 PM until the time of service at 2:30 PM. Burial will be near her home in Mill Creek Cemetery. Following the burial, fellowship is planned at the church.
