George Robert Duellman, 74, lifelong resident of Fountain City, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his home along the Mississippi River. He was born March 14, 1943 in Fountain City to John and Mary (Scholmeier) Duellman.
He graduated from Cochrane-Fountain City High School with the class of 1961.
At the age of twelve George began peddling papers with the help of his sister, Suz, on the back of his bike. He worked summers for Norman Ratz. He also worked at Ecker Auto Body, Prussing's, Schaffner Plumbing, Bel and Bob's Auto and Koehler Auto Body. In 1969, George purchased the former Abts Garage and started his own business, George’s Auto Body and Repair, until he retired for health reasons.
On August 29, 1964 he married Susanne M. Keller in Fountain City. Together they enjoyed attending estate sales, swap meets and auctions and were members of the Viking Chapter Antique Car Club. He enjoyed all things vintage. As a family they enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River and camping.
He will be missed by daughters, Amy (Bruce) Sixty of Cochrane, WI; and Dana (Sam Siegel) Duellman of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren Savannah and Olivia Sixty; brother and sisters David of Buffalo City, WI; Trudy (Ardell) Nelsestuen of Minnesota City, MN; Suzanne (Stan) Ferguson of Goodview, MN; Joan Valentine of Fountain City, WI; Jan (Blake) Pickart of Goodview, MN; Aunt Rita Pehler of Fountain City, WI and many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Duellman; wife, Sue; his father and mother-in-law Fred and Marian Keller; brother-in-law John Valentine and sister-in-law Gladys Duellman and many aunts and uncles.
A private family service was held per George's request.
