Gaylord Parnell Lewis, Sr. age 83, of Cochrane, passed away on Thursday April 14, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Wabasha.
Gaylord was born on November 19, 1932 on his home farm in the Town of Belvidere, Buffalo County, WI.
Gaylord honorably served his Country as a member of the United States Army.
On December 16, 1961, Gaylord was united in marriage to Joan Loewenhagen in Iowa. To this union, two children were born.
Gaylord devoted his life to his farm. He also loved to spend time outdoors either hunting or trapping and spending time on the river.
Gaylord and his son were honored with the highest civilian award given by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Silver Life Saving Award, for their actions on December 19, 1999 when they rescued two goose hunters on the Mississippi river after their boat capsized.
Gaylord and his wife loved to take trips to northern Wisconsin and out West.
Gaylord will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Joan of Cochrane; son, Gaylord P. Lewis, Jr. of Cochrane; daughter, Crystal (Scott) Sedevie of Mindoro; two grandchildren, Maxton and Madisyn; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his mother, Gaylord was preceded in death by his brother.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel with a memorial gathering from 4:00 PM until the hour of the service. Pastor Joel Bacon of St. John Lutheran Church, Alma will be officiating.
