Gary 0. Isaacson entered this world on March 4, 1932 , first son of George and Mabel Isaacson at the farm home homesteaded by his great grandfather and entered God's Kingdom of eternal rest on July 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife and his 3 children. After the sudden death of his father in 1946 he took over the farm for his mother. In 1955 he married the love of his life, lrene Johnson, who he affectionately called "Doll" at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church. They had 4 children: Mike, Jan, Dale and Judy (deceased at the age of 2) He was baptized and confirmed at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member. He served on various committees on the church council, Council President, building committee, taught Sunday school, played on the dartball team and rang the church bell for Sunday worship and funerals for many years. He graduated from the Lay School of Ministry. Gary was also very community oriented. He served 40 years on the Drammen Township Board, 32 years as chairman. He helped organize the Mondovi Sons of Norway Lodge and became the 1st president. Gary posed with his dog "Soop" for a pet food commercial. His main occupation was farming supplemented by working for Parker Limestone spreading lime on farm land, driving semi for Roberts Wholesale (Farmhouse Foods) delivering groceries to various grocery stores also to Stillwater State Prison . In later years transported Amish Carpenters to their job sites for 20 years and wore out 2 GMC Safari Vans. Gary was also a devoted family man. He loved to travel and when the children were growing up we took many family camping trips: a cabin at Hayward, Glacier Park, Yellowstone Park, Seattle World's Fair and Space Needle, Culbertson, Montana to visit a Pastor Friend and Canada fishing. He and his "Doll" took many mini honeymoon trips on their anniversaries. After retirement he traveled to Norway 3 times and Alaska 3 times. Gary had a passion for deer hunting primarily the Cole Creek Camp in Minong where his dad had hunted. He hunted there for 73 years. He also went to Big Timber, Montana hunting mule deer and to Canada with his cousin Merlin. Gary is survived by wife lrene, son Mike (Bonnie) son Dale and daughter Jan, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, sister Jean Hagen, brother Darold (Arlene) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Judy, Parents: George and Mabel and in-laws Elmer and Inger Johnson. This closes the last chapter of a life well and faithfully lived. Memorials can be given to Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church handicap entrance door fund and the St. Jude Children’s Cancer Fund. A memorial gathering will be at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church on Wednesday July 24, 2024 at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
