Gary L. Dienger, age 74, of Alma, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 10, 2013 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital after an apparent heart attack. He was born on March 18, 1939 in Winona a son to Clarence and Fern (Dienger) Clark. Gary grew up in Cream, WI where he farmed with his grandma and grandpa. Gary attended and graduated from the Alma Area High School with the class of 1957 On June 26, 1964, Gary was united in marriage to Mary Taubel at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Conception, MN. To this marriage, four children were born. Gary, for many years, owned Gary Dienger sales. He also was a milk hauler for Neitzel Trucking. It was in 1993 when Gary and his wife purchased the Hilltop Bar & Ballroom in Fountain City. Gary was a long time member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma and an active 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6789. Gary was also a life member of the Alma Rod and Gun Club along with both NRA and National Wild Turkey Federation. His most notable civic duty was his years of service to the City of Alma fire department, serving as chief for many years. Gary will be remembered for his big and outgoing personality. He was one to always “dish it out” but was gracious when it was “dished back” at him. All will know that deep down inside, was a soft and loving heart. Gary’s family will forever remember for how his life revolved around them, especially around all his precious grandchildren. Gary will be sadly missed but never forgotten by his beloved wife of the past 49 years, Mary of Alma; his loving children, Lisa (Thomas) Kronschnabl of Muskego, WI, Charles (Christy) of Holmen, Karla (Marc) Pronschinske of Waumandee and Kevin (Marilou) of Fountain City; his nine precious grandchildren, Becky, Allison, Drew, Alyssa, Mitch, Zach, Megan, Aaron and Linnea; sister, Carolee Seifert of Fremont, WI; brother, Neil Clark of Alma; also by nieces, nephews, sisters in law, brothers in law and many friends. Preceding Gary in death were his parents. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 17 at 10:30 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma with Father Brian Jazdzewski as Celebrant. Burial will follow the Alma Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel and again on Thursday one hour prior to the Mass at the church. A recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Following the Committal services at the cemetery, all are invited to the Alma Rod and Gun Club to help in celebrating the life and memory of Gary.
