Frank Lewis Cox

Frank Lewis Cox, age 74, of Mondovi, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 following a traffic accident near Bakersfield, CA. He was born on December 23, 1939 in LaHarpe, IL a son of Frank and Marie (Miller) Cox. Frank honorably served his Country as a member of the United States Navy. On September 8, 1962, Frank was united in marriage to Muriel Christianson at Trinity Lutheran Church, Norden. To this union, three children were born. Frank was an over the road truck driver and was recently employed with Curt Christianson Trucking. Frank was a quiet man, yet known to have a great sense of humor. Many of his family will remember him for his love of reading. His favorite books would be mystery novels and those authored by Stephen King. Many of his favorite books could be found on his computer. It has been said that Frank would rather read a book than watch TV. But in the rare occurrence you saw him in front of the TV it was almost assured he was watching the History Channel or the Food Network. While on the road, Frank would try to find a restaurant serving his favorite food…Mexican. Frank will be forever remembered as an excellent husband, loving dad and one of the best grandpa’s ever. Plain and simple, his grandchildren were his joy. Frank was looking forward, with great anticipation, the birth of his first great granddaughter due in early 2014. Frank will be sadly missed by his wife of the past 51 years, Muriel of Mondovi; his children, Brad (Kellie) of Staples, MN, Brent (Brenda) Brooklyn Center, MN and Lori Cox of Durand; his precious grandchildren, Callie, Tiffani, Adam, Cody, Kyle, Vissa and Tregg; brothers, Ed (Dottie) of Casper, WY, Jim (Dena) of East Moline, IL and Bob (Shirley) of Northfield, MN; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, two brothers George and Mike preceded Frank in death. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 11:00 AM at Central Lutheran Church, Mondovi with Pastor Rolf Morck officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, December 27 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel and again on Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
