Floyd "Shorty" B. Knecht, age 90 of Mondovi, WI died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at The American Lutheran Home in Mondovi, WI.
Shorty was born September 29, 1924 on "The Home Farm" in Dover Township, Buffalo County, WI. to Allen and Alvina (Melby) Knecht. On August 12, 1961 he married Delores Larson. He was a Dairy Farmer all his life in rural Gilmanton, WI until 1976 when he sold the herd and moved to Altoona, WI. He continued working (after his retirement from farming) at Silver Springs Gardens in Eau Claire for ten plus years.
Floyd loved to go to Tractor Pulls and while Delores was living, enjoyed playing Bingo. After his wife passed, Shorty moved back to Mondovi and you could find him every morning and afternoon at either Blondie's or K.D.'s restaurant having coffee with friends and shaking dice to see who paid for it. Shorty loved spending most all holidays at Roy and Linda's home and loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by two sons, Roy (Linda) Klingel of Gilmanton and Rocky (Charlene) Klingel of Mondovi; three grandchildren, Travis (Dawn Schultz) Klingel, Tosha (Dalton) Smith and Jeremy (Kelly) Klingel; six great grandchildren, Kodi, Jessy, Katie, Jonathan, Joshua and Jordyn; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Shorty was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores: one son, Richie Klingel; one brother, Bud; and two sisters, Evelyn and Adella.
Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel. Visitation will from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Gilmanton Cemetery, Gilmanton, WI.
