Florence L. "Dolly" Marten, 80, of Modena, WI passed away Wednesday August 22, 2012 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born December 2, 1931 at home in the Turtle Mountains outside Dunseith, North Dakota to John and Agnes (Aasness) Hagen. She graduated from Dunseith High School and attended Minot Teacher's College. She taught school in West Hope, North Dakota before moving to Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to Roger R. Marten November 12, 1950 in Modena. Florence "Dolly" joined her husband in building the trucking company, Marten Transport for many years. Roger passed away August 9, 1993.
She enjoyed spending summers at her lake home on Deer Island in Pepin, Wisconsin and in the company of family, friends and neighbors. Survivors include a son, Randolph Lee, a daughter, Christine Kay, a sister, Ina Anderson of Mondovi, a brother, Oscar Hagen of La Crosse; sister in laws, Thelma Hagen of Kennewick, Washington and Janice Gehrke (Lee) of Modena , nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Orville, Clifford and Raymond; sisters, Alice and Clara.
A visitation will be at Poeschel-Talbot Funeral Home, Mondovi on Sunday August 26 at 4:00 PM until a prayer service at 7:00 PM with Chaplain Gary Preston. Visitation will also be again one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday August 27 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Modena with Pastor Daniel Pfaffe officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
