Elnora Mae “Ellie” Haigh, age 83 of Mondovi, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Rockford, IL. She was born on December 16, 1935 in Dixon, IL, the daughter of John and Irma (Willey) Bothe. Ellie graduated from Amboy High School. She graduated nursing school at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Illinois as a Registered Nurse. Ellie then went on to the University of Iowa where she received her Bachelor’s degree. Ellie married Levi Haigh on February 20, 1960 and to this union three children were born. She and Levi moved to Seattle, WA where they started their family. Later they moved to Minneapolis, MN until 1975 when they finally settled in Mondovi. Ellie worked at many different Hospitals before moving to Mondovi and coincidently passed away at the same Hospital that she received her Nursing license from.
Ellie was a member of Prince of Peace Church. She had a fondness for animals, especially cats, goats and birds. She also enjoyed reading. Ellie was devoted to her family and loved caring for them. She was looking forward to spoiling her first great-granddaughter who was just born on March 1. Ellie will be greatly missed by her loving family and dear friends.
Ellie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Levi; three children, Ellen (Tim) Urness, Lyle and Carla; 6 grandsons, Keenan Blackcoon, Ian “Hunter” (Amelia) Blackcoon, Eli Blackcoon, Josh (Claire) Urness, Zack Urness and Nick Urness; one great-granddaughter, Olive Mae Blackcoon; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and teenage brother, Danny Bothe.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Prince of Peace Church, Mondovi with Rev. Ileana Garcia-Soto officiating. Burial to immediately follow at Oak Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at church from 11:00 am until the time of service.
