Elaine Mae Zeller, age 84 of Cochrane, WI died November 30, 2013 at St. Michael’s Assisted Living in Fountain City, WI. Elaine was born on August 22, 1929 in the Town of Alma, WI to Edwin and Vernie (Bucholz) Schmidt. She married Rudolph Zeller on October 4, 1950. Elaine and Rudy established and ran Rudy’s Red Owl Grocery and Variety Store for 52 years, in Cochrane. The store was a true “Mom and Pop business”. Elaine enjoyed her part of the store, providing general goods, fabrics, and notions to the community. Elaine was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary post 10204 in Cochane, and also in the Buffalo City/Cochrane Historical Society. She was a life time parishioner and member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and PCCW in Alma, WI. Elaine’s leisure time was spent crafting, cooking, and socializing. She was known for her delicious potato salad she would offer in their store deli, and for friends and family get togethers. She will be remembered for her "quaint way" of expressing herself, and her quick wit.
She will be sadly missed by her husband Rudy of 63 years, her son Brent (Kendra) Zeller of Lakeville, MN, granddaughter Brittany (Eric) Clapshaw, of St. Louis Park, MN, and grandson Chase Zeller of Minneapolis, MN. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Bruce, in 2006.
