Edward Comer

Edward Comer, of Mondovi, WI passed away peacefully in his sleep at his rural Mondovi home surrounded by his daughters on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

He was born on March 26, 1946 in Omaha, NE, the middle of three boys, to John and Evelyn "Skippy" (Fortner) Comer.  Ed spent most of his younger years in Southern California.  

It was in Southern California that Ed met his first wife, and they had two children, Tammy and Ed, Jr.  He would later move to St. Paul, MN when he was around 30, where he met his second wife, and they would end up residing in Eau Claire and together, had 3 children, Dawn and his twin girls, Robin, and April.

When his youngest girls were still pretty young, Ed decided to move to Mondovi, where he would find his forever home and lived there until his passing. .

Ed lived an adventurous life that included racing stock cars, test driving Mustangs and being a hotshot fire-fighter in his younger years in California.  After a near death accident, on his way to a fire scene, Ed decided it was time for a new career.  He then began driving semi-trucks, which took him cross country, and this is what led to his move up north.  He drove for Menards, Marten Transport, Olson Farms and Wal-Mart.  He would finally retire around the age of 75, spending his last years at home enjoying his "Million-dollar view".

Ed will be remembered best for his "B.S.ing" skills.  He would even go out of his way to stop at a store just to say hi.  

He loved his children, his dogs, his home, and his town.  Mondovi will be a little quieter without hearing "HOW THE HECK ARE YA!" whenever he would walk in.

Ed was preceded in death by dad, John Comer, Sr. his mom, Evelyn Buchanan; older brother John Comer, Jr and younger brother, Ernie Comer; his son, Edward Comer, Jr. and his best fur-buddy, Rusty.

Ed is survived by his four daughters, Tammy Comer (Mike East), Dawn Comer, Robin Comer, and April Comer; grandchildren, Jacalynn Meers, Amber Price and Steven (Cynthia) East Comer; along with three great grandchildren.

  A visitation will be at Talbot Family Funeral Homes in Mondovi on Wednesday November 29 from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service at 5:00 PM, with Chaplain Gary Preston officiating.  Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery, Mondovi on Thursday, November 30 at 10:00 AM.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.talbotfhuneralhomes.com
