Duaine Allen Carothers

Duaine Allen Carothers, age 71 of Misha Mokwa, Town of Nelson, WI passed away peacefully while in the care, comfort and presence of his loving family on June 17, 2013. Duaine was born on September 3, 1941 in Cornell, WI to Walter and Wanda (Bechel) Carothers. On November 1, 1963 Duaine was united in marriage to Donna Pank in Durand, WI, and to this loving union, four daughters were born. Duaine enlisted and served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1965. He worked as a logger with his father for many years. He was employed as a part time police officer for the City of Durand and a part time game warden for Northern Wisconsin. Other places of employment were at the NAPA store, Pittman oil, Bauer Bilt in Durand and finished his career with the Buffalo County Highway Department, retiring in June 2003. Duaine leaves many memories in the hearts of his family, especially the times he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren, hunting, fishing and camping. The memory of his sense of humor and love of jokes and teasing will leave a smile on the face of all he knew. Misha Mokwa will never be the same without the presence of him riding his John Deere Gator to make sure everyone was doing everything correctly. He was a great “supervisor”. He loved being on his porch enjoying the creek and his wildlife outside his window or being with his neighbor, Juhl who was always at his side when he needed her. Duaine will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 50 years, Donna; his daughters Lori (Rick) Loppnow, Vonda (Edward) Sheiman, Debra (Bryan) Birtzer, and Dana (Jeffrey) Marquardt, and his “just like a son” Daniel Sobottka. His grandchildren Kelsey (Nick Huebner) Wenger, Derek Wenger, Georgia (Cody Ritscher) Birtzer, Julia Birtzer, and Jon Marquardt. His step-grandchildren Erin Loppnow, Brita Loppnow, and step great grandchild, Keller Fox. His brothers LaVern (Dixie) Carothers, Robert (Judy) Carothers, and Raymond (Linda) Carothers. His sisters Yvonne Sullivan, Marlene (Ron) Kralewski, Sandra (Floyd) Hillstrom, and Ruth (Joe) Sinz. Also by many nieces, nephews, and his Border Collie Sparky. Duaine was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David, and a niece Theresa Lane. A visitation will be at Talbot Family Funeral Homes in Alma on Friday June 21 at 4:00 PM to 8:00PM.
