Dorothy Darlene Lorenz

Dorothy Darlene Lorenz, age 80, of Cochrane, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Saint Anne Extended Care, Winona, MN.

She was born on January 7, 1943, the daughter of Clifford and Caroline (Heil) Adler, and was raised in Plainview, MN.

Dorothy met the love of her life, Bill Lorenz, while attending the Wabasha County Fair and they were united in marriage on February 10, 1961 at the Plainview United Methodist Church in Plainview, MN.  To this union, three children were born.  Bill preceded Dorothy in death on February 4, 2020.

While living in Plainview, Dorothy was employed at Lakeside Canning in Plainview.  She and her husband relocated to Cochrane when Bill accepted a position at LaCrosse Milling Co.  Once in Cochrane, Dorothy held various jobs, most notably with the Winona Knitting Mills and lastly at Uni-Patch in Wabasha.

Dorothy was a longtime and faithful member of Hope United Church of Christ in Cochrane and was active in the Ladies’ Aide.

Dorothy loved to cook, especially for large family gatherings.  She was well known for her homemade chicken noodle soup…right down to her very own homemade noodles.  Once Dorothy knew a family member’s birthday, she would never forget it and sent birthday wishes to them every year.  Dorothy had a passion for her flower garden, spending lots of time weeding and keeping it beautiful.  Dorothy was also known for her holiday decorations.  Their house on the North End of Cochrane was decorated for most holidays….going all out for Christmas!

Dorothy’s loving and caring heart was known to many, especially to her loving husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Dorothy is survived by daughter Peggy Dienger; son Bob (Sherry) Lorenz, and daughter-in-law, Dottie Lorenz; grandchildren, Anthony (Crystal) Dienger, Trista (Shaun) Mann and Dana (Derrick) Lorenz; great-grandchildren, Diamonte, Jase, Miracle, Reese and Amirah;

Siblings, Allen (Marilyn) Adler, Marvin (Sue) Adler, Carolyn (Tom) Risley, Arden Adler and Ruth (Lance) Vagt; sisters-in-law, Kathy Adler, Brenda Adler, Sharon Adler and Connie Adler; brother-in-law, Rusty (Linda) Lorenz; also, by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill in 2020; son Dave in 2016; grandson Dustin in 2005; great-grandson David in 2017; son-in-law Randy Dienger in 2016; brothers, Clifton, Melvin, Clifford and Joe.

A funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Hope United Church of Christ in Cochrane, with Pastor Deborah Kunkel officiating.  A visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.

In honor of the love, devotion and marriage between Dorothy and her husband, Dorothy and the ashes of Bill, will be laid to rest together after the service on Friday at the Buffalo City Cemetery.  A luncheon will follow at Hope UCC.  Talbot Family Funeral Homes of Cochrane, WI assisted the family with arrangements.  www.talbotfuneralhomes.com
