Donna Mae Salwey, age 80, of Waumandee passed away on Friday March 9 at Mayo Health Sytems, Skemp Campus La Crosse.
She was born on July 28, 1931 in Modena, Wisconsin a daughter to Otto and Sarah (Wick) Loewenhagen.
On May 16, 1950 Donna was united in marriage to Lloyd Salwey at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Waumandee. To this union, three daughters were born. Lloyd preceded Donna in death in 2002.
Donna and her husband farmed side by side until moving off the farm in 1971. This is when she began working at Wisconsin Dairies and at the Waumandee Country Store Locker until her retirement. Donna was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where she was active with the Altar Society.
Donna will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Kathy Salwey of Buffalo City, Karen (Galen) McCutchen of Stoddard and Linda (Gregory) Yapp of Huron, SD; six grandchildren, Janel (James) Pettis, Shelly (Charles) Berger, Alanna (Fiancé, Kurt Joy) Seidel, Brenda (Mike) Harvey, Christina (friend, Chad Bult) Yapp and Jason Yapp; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Martin (Delores) Loewenhagen of Alma and Veryl Loewenhagen, Sr. of Wabasha; sister, Joan (Gaylord) Lewis of Buffalo City; also by two sisters in law, Emma Loewenhagen and Leila Loewenhagen; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband Lloyd, her brothers Alvin, Alton, Marvin, Ray and Otto Loewenhagen along with sisters, Esther Hoppenjan and Sara Comero preceded Donna in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 16 at 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Yazdjewski officiating. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel and again on Friday, one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
