Donavon M.“Donnie” Herold, 77, of Buffalo City, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 2, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital with his loving familyat his side.
He was born Oct. 22, 1933, in Cochrane, a son of Merrland Laura (Krueger) Herold
Donavon honorably served his country as amember of the United States Army, serving from 1956 until 1958.
On Aug. 13, 1960, Donavon was united inmarriage to Yvonne Lietha at Dr. Martin Luther Church, Buffalo City. To this union, twoloving children were born. Yvonne preceded Donavon in death on April 5, 2009.
Donavon was employed at Alma Farmers Union for several years, after leaving the Farmers Union, he worked at LaCrosseMilling before returning the Alma Farmers Union at the Feed Mill Manager.Besides working at the mill, Donavon farmed on atop Alma bluff where he did cashcropping and raised beef cattle. Following his retirement, he worked at theHandy Martin Nelson and was a courier for the Alliance Bank of Buffalo.
Donavon was a long time and faithful member of Dr. Martin Luther Church where he served as the church treasurer formore than 30 years.
Donavon was a deeply caring man with aheart filled with love, especially for his grandchildren that he would talk to every day.
Donavon will be sadly missed by hischildren, Randy (Tracy) Herold of Alma and Rhonda Steiner (John Knutson) ofBuffalo City; five grandchildren, Josh, Jacob, Jessica, Katelyn and Cole; fourbrothers, Ronald (Judy) of West Allis, Wis., Gerald (Patricia) of Ormand Beach,Fla., Dale (Kathy) of Eagan, Minn., and Dallas (Margaret) of Morris Twp, N.J.; hisaunt, Violet Herold of Winona; also by several nieces, nephews, other relativesand friends.
Preceding Donavon in death are hisparents; and wife, Yvonne.
Funeral services for Donavon will be heldThursday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Wilde officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo City Cemetery. A time of visitationand support will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Talbot FamilyFuneral Home, Alma Chapel, and again from 10 a.m. until the hour of theservice on Thursday at the church.
