Dewey A. Kernan, age 69 of Holcombe, WI, passed away in the arms of his loving wife, with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Mayo Health Systems, Eau Claire.
Dewey was born on Eau Claire, WI to Rodger and Elaine (Snyder) Kernan. He married Carolyn Whalen on February 9, 1968 in Chippewa Falls, WI. Dewey was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the US Navy aboard the USS Providence. He worked at Uniroyal for a number of years followed by Cummings Filtration from which he retired. Dewey had a love of taking long drives and photographing Gods beauty, with his "copilot" in life by his side. Dewey and Carolyn shared a love of life, photography and always took their "boys" Nemo and Leo (their pup's) along for the ride in the backseat.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Karen (William) Hall and Julie (Jeff) Sandberg; brothers, Rodean Kernan and Dale (Delores) Kernan; grandchildren, Sean, Brendan and Devin Hall and Justin, Joshua and Jeremy Sandberg and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Ashton Sandberg. He is further survived by many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodger and Elaine Kernan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Hazel Whalen and grandparents, Joseph and Marie Kernan and Dewey and Nora Snyder.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Holcombe United Methodist Church with Pastor Jason Kim officiating. According to Dewey and Carolyn's wishes, his ashes will be saved until he and his love will be reunited. Their ashes will then be joined together and scattered over a place special to both of them.

The doctors and nurses at the Dunlap Cancer Center and the doctors and nurses at Mayo Health Systems, Eau Claire for their wonderful care.
