Dennis Raymond Thompson

Dennis Raymond Thompson, age 75, of Mondovi, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024 at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi. He was born on September 21, 1948 to Joyce Ann and the late Theodore Raymond Thompson. Dennis attended and graduated from Barneveld High School in 1966. Immediately following high school, Dennis went on to UW-Platteville, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1971. While in College, Dennis was a member of the TKE fraternity. On August 7, 1971, Dennis was united in marriage to Judy Cheryl Landmark at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Horeb, WI. To this loving union, the couple would raise 3 children. Dennis spent his entire career tending to the farming community and the reproductive health of their herds as an employee and salesman for Tri-State Breeders, then later Accelerated Genetics. Dennis lastly worked for Select Sires. This successful career that spanned several decades saw Dennis earn the top salesman for animal reproductive health. Dennis was also a member of the WI Holstein Association. It goes without saying that Dennis loved his career, the farmers he assisted in maintaining and increasing their herd’s productivity and profitability, in turn Dennis made many long and lasting friendships along the way. Dennis was a faithful member of Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi and in the 1990’s served as a member on the church council. He was also a member of the Mondovi Conservation Club and enjoyed shooting trap league with other members and friends. Dennis also enjoyed time in the outdoors hunting deer or turkey. He was also an avid Wisconsin Sports fan, following the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. Dennis will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Judy, of Mondovi; children, Heather Thompson of Mondovi, Scott (Shawna) Thompson of Ridgeland, WI and Theresa (Nick) Strand of Rock Falls; grandchildren, Anthony (Savanna) Owens, Brett (Courtney) Owens, Kayden, Ashlyn, Olivia, Bella and Emily; great grandchildren Ella, Bria, Carter, Sophia, Alayna and Mara; his mother, Joyce Thompson of Dodgeville, WI; brother, Ted (Marcia) Thompson of Barneveld, WI; sister, Lynn (Tim) Lauffer of Colfax; mother in law, Dolores Kahl of Mt. Horeb, WI; brother in law, Jerry (Julie) Landmark; also by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Besides his father, Dennis was preceded in death by his sister, Rhonda Dollhausen. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel and again at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service. www.talbotfuneralhomes.com
