Delmar F. “Del” Loewenhagen, age 86, of Alma passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 at the American Lutheran Home, Mondovi.
Del was born on April 23, 1927 in Alma to the late William and Henrietta (Pank) Loewenhagen.
On August 16, 1947 Del was united in marriage to Charlotte Michaels. Charlotte preceded Del in death in February of 2003.
Del and his wife moved to Racine in 1953 where they both worked at Western Publishing Co. for 40 years. Del was a journeyman electrician by trade. In 1992, they retired and moved back to the Alma area.
Del loved to spend time keeping a neat lawn, repair whatever needed fixing and polishing his cars. He loved watching sporting events that were televised. He was an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan. Del was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. Del had a beautiful voice and loved singing in church and in several choirs over the years. He and his sons sang How Great Thou Art together on many special occasions.
Survivors include his two sons, Keith W. (Shirley) of Mondovi and Rev. Dr. Bruce D. (Deanna) of Waunakee, Wis.; five grandchildren, Andrea (Dwain) Holznagel of Madison, Kyle (Lori) of Mondovi, Cindy Loewenhagen of Waunakee, Paul of Lodi, Wis., Peter of Washington D.C.; six great grandchildren, Katerina, Isaiah, Malachi, Hunter, Morgan and Deanna; also by one sister, Lois (Delbert) Krause and one brother Duane (Bev) both of Buffalo City.
Besides his parents, Del was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte, one brother, Merlin and his sister Betty Brownell.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25 at 1:30 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, Alma with Pastor Joel Bacon officiating.
Burial will follow at Alma Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the hour of the service at the church.
