Dean W. Balk, age 68, of rural Mondovi, passed away on Thursday May 21, 2015 at the American Lutheran home of Mondovi.
He was born on May 3, 1947 in Mondovi, a son of the late Armor and Adeline (Schaub) Balk.
Dean attended Gilmanton High School, graduating with the class of 1965.
Dean farmed for many years on the farm he grew up on and has lived on his entire life. After he retired from farming, Dean was stayed active by always being there to help friends and neighbors in any way possible.
Dean found great enjoyment in caring for animals of all sorts, especially for his dogs. Dean will long be remembered for his gentle ways and his giving heart, never having a bad word to say of anyone.
Dean is survived by his two sisters, Barbara (Wayne) Reidt of Alma and Beverly Schultz of Goodview, MN; four nieces, Dawn, Shelley, Shannon and Jennifer; great niece, Stella; dear friends and neighbors, Diane Ross and Bob Bauer along with Vickie Davidson and Shaun and Arianna.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service to commemorate the life of Dean will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 7:00 PM the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel with Gary Preston, Chaplain of the American Lutheran Home officiating. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until the hour of the service.
