David Arthur Dittrich

David Arthur “Dave” Dittrich, of the Town of Waumandee away on Friday, February 1, 2013, two days before his 72nd birthday at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse surrounded by his loving and devoted family. David was born at home in Cream, Wis. on February 3, 1941 the oldest child of 11 born to Willard and Arlyn (Haigh) Dittrich. Dave attended and graduated from Cochrane-Fountain City High School with the class of 1959. Following high school, Dave took a short course for heavy equipment operation. His first job was in construction. Dave then began employment with garden valley creamery. David began a career with Lake Center Industries/TRW as a press operator devoting 44 years of service, retiring in 2010. Dave found great enjoyment being and working on the family farm in the Town of Waumandee. He was very proud of raising his beef cattle. Dave will be remembered for his love of outdoors and his pursuit of that elusive “trophy buck”. And in his retirement, He and his special black lab “Bo” enjoyed evening rides through the countryside. The greatest memories that David will leave in the hearts of his family are how he would always be there for them and was constantly interested in the wellbeing of all his nieces and nephews were doing. David will be sadly missed by his loving siblings, Kathleen (Tom) Reuter of Minnesota City, Mary (Roger) Weaver of Goodview, Daniel (Diane) Dittrich of Albert Lea, Susanne (David) Schaffner of Fountain City, Faye Piel of Fountain City, James (Cindy) Dittrich of Knoxville, TN, Janie Rae (Roger) Bollinger of Waumandee, Colleen Dittrich of Lewiston, Michelle (James) Ryan of Rochester and Jaquelyn (Thomas) Blahnik of St. Charles, MN; nieces and nephews, Sherry Rueter, Connie Fort, Paula Timm, Chad Weaver, Cara Weaver, Steven and Allan Dittrich, Corey Brandt, Lisa Bremer, Jeffrey and Matthew Schaffner, Daniel Piel, Luke and Erin Dittrich, Michael Dittrich, McKenna and Zachary Ryan and Billy Blahnik; also by great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 6 at 1:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel with Deacon Michael Wendt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
