Dale Herbert Timm 87, of Alma died Thursday, January 12, 2012.
He was born April 22, 1924 to Romeo and Lillie Timm (Gleiter).
He married (Bonnie) Timm on September 22, 1945 at Nelson, and to this union, one daughter, Darlene (Dolly) was born.
Dale was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a caring and generous grandfather and great grandfather.
Born into farming, Dale worked the land for his father, and then later, for himself. His only break from corn and cattle came when his wife developed polio while pregnant with their daughter. He moved into Alma while Bonnie recovered, and took up various jobs working for the Buffalo County Highway Department, pouring cement for Dairyland Power at the Alma plant, working on the dray line delivering ice for patron’s refrigerators, and working for Hiram Walker making whiskey barrel staves. He and his wife then purchased the farm they had been renting, and moved back to the country, happily farming the land together for the rest of their days.
He was raised in a time when broken things weren’t thrown away, they were saved and repurposed. Dale was able to grab a tine from the old rake, a spring out of the broken toaster, and fabricate or fix anything and everything the farm and family could throw at him. He was well organized and adhered to the motto: No job is done until the tools are all put away in their proper spot!
Funeral services will be held on Monday January 16 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Al ma with Pastor Joel Bacon officiating. Committal services will be at Nelson Cemetery.
