Curtiss Gene Hansen, age 68, of Galesville, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at his home with his loving wife and children at his side.
He was born on August 19, 1950 in Winona, a son of Howard and Ruby (Hilgert) Hansen.
Curt attended and graduated from Winona Senior High School and then earned an associate’s degree from Winona Technical School.
On May 1, 1971, Curtiss took the hand of Faye Senn where they united their love in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fountain City. Together, Curt and his wife were blessed with three children.
Curt’s career spanned 35 years at Dairyland Power as a mechanic at the power plant located in Alma. He retired in August of 2012.
Curt was honored to have served the Buffalo City, Cochrane and Belvidere communities for 17 years as a fire fighter for the Tri-Community Fire Department.
Curt was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galesville and for around 15 years, expressed his faith as a devout member of the Knights of Columbus.
Curt gave so many memories to many. So many Holidays, Packers games, Brewers games, birthday parties, grandkids’ events, Bingo nights, bonfires and Ettrick baseball games. He loved the concession hot dogs and cheering on his favorite team (& Coach Dave). His nicknames for all the players were quite endearing and comical.
Whether we are at the ball field, listening to oldies music or watching a John Wayne western, he left a legacy that will live on in the hearts of his children and grandchildren .
Curt will be sadly missed by his wife of the past 48 years, Faye of Galesville; his children, Michael (Stephanie) of Winona, Vicky (Jason) Lietha of Columbus, WI and David (Emily) of Galesville; grandchildren, Mikaela and Austin Lietha; Evalyn, Vivian and Maddy Hansen; Benjamin, Brielle, Brady and Brycen Hansen; siblings, Guy (Nancy) Hansen of Eleva, Terry (Laurie) Hansen of Zumbro Falls, MN, Jay (Kim) Hansen of Winona, Jamie (Barbara) Hansen of Winona, JoLinda (Kevin) Panek of Altura, MN and Lynnette (Rick) Loth of Winona; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and his dear friend, Troy Rolbiecki.
