Curtis W. “Curt” Mattausch, age 45, of Colorado, formerly of Eleva passed away while in the presence of his family at his parent’s home in rural Eleva following a courageous battle with cancer.
Curt was born on August 31, 1969 in Mondovi, a son of William C. and Kathie (Kolstad) Mattausch.
Curt attended Eleva-Strum Schools, graduating with the Eleva-Strum Class of 1988. He was employed as a construction worker for JJJ Construction, LLC out of Independence, WI before he moved to Colorado. While in Colorado, Curt continued working in road construction.
Just recently, Curt moved back to Wisconsin to be close to his mom and dad while receiving treatments for his cancer.
In Curt’s younger years, he was an avid and well accomplished bull rider, and has always been a true and passionate rodeo fan, and has passed the passion for the rodeo down through all his children.
Curt enjoyed the Green Bay Packers, hunting with his friends and family or having an arm wrestling match with his son. He will be remembered as a man with a great personality who could instantly become your friend. Even his boss, Jim Bork, considered him more as a friend and extended family member than an employee.
More than anything, even the rodeo, or time with friends could ever compare to the complete and utter love and devotion he had for his entire family, especially for his five children.
Curt will be sadly and dearly missed by his five precious children, Bailey Mattausch of Mondovi, Wyatt Mattausch, of Colorado, Ryley, Ty and Layne Mattausch all of Delores, CO; his loving mom and dad, Kathie and William Mattausch of Eleva; his three Siblings, Wendy (Wayne) Myren of Cleghorn, WI, Randy (Megan) Mattausch of Eleva and Jessica (Fiancé, Nick Schemenauer) Mattausch of Chippewa Falls; also by aunts, uncles, other relatives and special friends.
Curt was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Norden, Pastor Kermit Solem officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
