Clarence H. Rasmussen, age 85, of Eleva, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 while a resident at Dove Healthcare, West.
He was born on July 25, 1932 the ninth child of 11 born to Nels and Matilda (Luedtke) Rasmussen. In 1961, Clarence was united in marriage to Marvel Larson Olson.
Clarence was employed for 17 years as a poultry inspector with the United States Department of Agriculture and then was a volunteer driver for Trempealeau County for 23 years. It was with great pride that Clarence was given the Ageless Heroes Award for his many years of service to community.
He had several hobbies, such as reading and gardening. He loved to go camping with family in his popup camper visiting many destinations in the mid-western US and Canada.
Clarence's family will remember him as a dad that liked to tinker and fix things around the home, but mostly as a wonderful polka or hop waltzing dancer with his wife, Marvel.
Clarence is survived by his wife of the past 56 years, Marvel; son, Dion (Kathy) Rasmussen; daughter, Gloria (Dan) Kellner; step children, Mariann (Lonnie) Kolar, Roger (Rita Severson) Olson, Elaine Olson and Wayne (Jean) Olson; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brother, Harold Rasmussen; sister, Mabel Peterson; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Clarence in death were his parents, Nels and Matilda; 8 siblings; and a step son in law, David Gilbertson, husband of Elaine.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Clarence will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Eleva Lutheran Church. Enurnment will be at Naples Cemetery, Town of Naples, Buffalo County, WI. A memorial gathering will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service.
