Chester F. “Hal” Katula, age 59, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Fountain City, died on Sunday, August 13, 2017 unexpectedly at his home from natural causes.
He was born on October 18, 1957 in Winona, a son of Chester L. and the late Donnabelle J. (Decker) Katula.
Chester attended Fountain City Schools and later enlisted in the United States Army.
He was employed at Gale Products in Galesville which then became TRW.
Chester enjoyed spending time outdoors, either hunting, fishing or just taking a walk and was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Chester is survived by his only daughter, Nicky and her husband Jon Schiller of Winona; only granddaughter Briella Schiller; his father, Chester L. Katula of Fountian City; sisters, Carol (Howard) Steinke of Osseo, Barb (Dave) Fonstad of Galesville and Kim Katula of Buffalo City; also by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.
Preceding Chester in death are his mother, Donnabelle; brother, Edward Fernholz and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM St. John Catholic Church in Winona with Rev. Msgr. Thomas J. Hargesheimer as Celebrant. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18 from 9:00 AM until the hour of the Mass.
