Charlotte “Charlie” Marie Quarberg, age 88, of Mondovi, WI passed away late Monday evening, July 9, 2012 at Hillview Senior Living Center of Mondovi following a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. She was born on October 12, 1923 in Nelson, WI a daughter of the late Adolf and Clara (Serum) Quarberg. Charlotte attended Union Free High School in Nelson, graduating Valedictorian of the class of 1941. She then attended the La Crosse Teachers College, graduating in 1945 earning her Bachelor of Science degree. In September of 1947, Charlotte began working for the Plainfield School district of Plainfield, IL. In May of 1948, Charlotte left Plainfield to accept a position at Mondovi High School as Librarian. Her career spanned thirty-seven years, retiring in May of 1985.
She held memberships in both Wisconsin Education Association and in retirement the Retired Educators association. Her most cherished membership was at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi and actively served in many capacities, such as a Sunday School Teacher, a bible study leader for her ladies circle and sang in the church choir.
Many times you would find Charlotte tinkering with “gadgets”, mostly the electrical type.
Charlotte was a selfless lady with deep faith and a loving heart. It has been said, it was her faith in her Lord and Savior that paved Charlotte’s heart to be kind, giving and considerate to all. Charlotte will be sadly missed by her brother, Clayton Quarberg of White Bear Lake, MN; also by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, especially Margaret Nelson who all thought the world of her. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Obert Quarberg. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 10:30 AM at Central Lutheran Church, Mondovi with Pastor Rolf Morck officiating. It was Charlotte’s wish to be cremated following her service, with burial at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery on Saturday at 2:30 PM. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Poeschel-Talbot Funeral Home, Mondovi and again on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
